In 2008 Sandy returned home to Barbados having lived and worked in the UK for 40 years. In retirement she at last had time to pursue her love of art which she had studied to A level at school. She joined Indrani Whittingham’s Newcomers Art Group where she started painting in Acrylic. She also studied with Vanita Comissiong who helped her explore new approaches to her work.

Sandy draws her inspiration from the vibrant colours and dramatic light of the Caribbean. Her subjects focus on local culture, landscapes, seascapes and tropical vegetation. She has sold paintings at the On The Wall Art galleries at Lime Grove and Champers and through commissions.
